Empowering Superheroes: Transforming Culture Through Visual Expression at AT&T | TwoLine Studios

A few years ago, TwoLine Studios worked with AT&T embarking on the Dreaming in Black initiative, a powerful endeavor aimed at nurturing a cultural shift and strengthening team unity amid societal challenges and the pandemic's impact.

With a focus on honoring the unique strengths of its team members, this initiative aimed to cultivate a culture of appreciation and empowerment amidst the transition to virtual interactions and a longing for connection.

Central to the project was:

  • the spotlighting of senior executives,

  • recognizing their contributions,

  • and ensuring they felt valued and understood as they introduced new initiatives.

Our goal was to create personalized illustrations for 11 senior executives, symbolizing recognition and encouragement while serving as constant reminders of their ability to drive positive change.

TwoLine Studios wanted to:

  • infuse energy into the event,

  • visually summarize action items, enhance the presentation of a new cultural workbook,

  • and deeply impress the executives with a meaningful acknowledgment.

The initiative commenced with meticulous planning to align with AT&T's brand identity, determining print sizes and formats for impactful delivery. We also provided a detailed schedule that was crafted to accommodate the executives' schedules and event timelines, focusing on customizing the artwork to highlight each executive's unique strengths or "superpowers."

TwoLine conducted virtual graphic recording throughout the two-day event, visually capturing key concepts, anecdotes, and humor. The artistic process was comprehensive, ensuring that the creations adhered to AT&T's brand standards and incorporated specific preferences.

Various print options were explored, balancing budget considerations with the desire to make a lasting impression, from metal prints to standout prints with distinctive white edges.

The unveiling of the illustrations elicited enthusiastic feedback from the executives, embodying AT&T's commitment to recognizing the diverse talents within its team. A poignant moment occurred when one executive, visibly moved, expressed newfound appreciation for a strength they had overlooked. Afterward, we sent the artwork to their homes and added a personal touch, which further reinforcing the company's gratitude and recognition.

The Dreaming in Black initiative at AT&T exemplifies how creative recognition can drive significant cultural change. By celebrating the individual superpowers of its leaders, AT&T not only acknowledges their contributions but also strengthens its commitment to fostering an inclusive, empowering, and appreciative workplace culture.
